I promised myself I would not go into a serious rant about the govenment right off the bat when I started this blog. Unfortunately, I really have to this time!
I have had many of my friends commenting on Facebook because I added a link to the story of the teacher that made comments about a young girls hair style on picture day at a school. I understand the problem with the parent being upset about a teacher posting comments about a student on Facebook! I even understand wanting an apology and a recant of those comments! Where I start to fall by the wayside is when the attorney for the mother let her believe she has a winnable case against the school board, the city (Chicago, Ill), the school itself, and the teacher! This is stupid!
This government needs to stop falling victim to all of these frivolous lawsuits because some person is offended by someone's speech. The constitution allows for freedom of speech to be protected from prosecution. This is not slander this is B.S. because the parent is simply searching for a payday! The attorney is searching for a payday! and the courts should be fed up with this type of blatent disregard for the laws of the land allowing this type of case to even be filed and taking up space in the courts. The city and the school board and even the c=school itself will give in and pay this idiot through their insurance policies instead of standing up and fighting for the rights of the country and beating this down. The comments may have been in poor taste! Granted, I will give you that! but the comments are not against the law. If you have a problem with a person laughing and making comments when your child ties Jolly Ranchers into her hair, DON"T LET HER DO IT! It is common sense and to have a teacher repremanded or even fired over this is just another way we as a country have allowed the abuse of people through the judicial system.
Every single day people are railroaded in criminal and civil courts because they are unable to hire high dollar attorneys to win their cases for them. Family courts abuse parents because they discriminate against non custodial parents and men in general. The family courts will bend over backwards to help women (especially abusive women) to have their children returned to them instead of allowing them to be placed with a non custodial father that has non history of abusing the child in question. God forbid the non custodial father has a felony record, even if it is several years in the past, because the state agencies will not even consider allowing the father the chance to have the child. Believe me when I say I speak from experience personally! I am tired of the judicial system beating down those that cannot afford to pay for an attorney to handle a family court case becaue it is flat out unfair. I understand the concept that the attorney has the right to take cases to make a living but there should also be a way for the non rich to afford the same representation. I had a friend tell me legal aid can do that. Except, legal aid told me personally they cannot represent me in a child support hearing because it does not fit into their charter of cases they will handle. I went through family court and was railroaded by the judge because I did not have an attorney. The judge set my child support based on a job I had not had for over six months which paid double what I was making at the time of the hearing. I cannot even get Lagal Aid to handle a child support reduction in spite of the fact I cannot afford the listed payment. Because the case was handled in family court and not state court the only enforcement that can be levied against me is a suspension of my driver's license. Because I live in another state my license can be suspended in my home state even if I do nothing wrong because the state where my child and her mother live refuses to allow me a Legal Aid attorney to handle the problem with or without me going back to that state and filing the case personally. Legal Aid attorneys and the Lagal Aid offices are a huge disappointment and they have a history of screwing everyone that is required to use them. Something needs to be done.
Well I guess I got off point a little about the judicial system screwing everyone but I believe the tangent I went off on is pertinent to my argument. Fix the system not the accused. Stand up for the law and stop allowing people to abuse the system on technicalities. Rich people skate free in cases because of their money. Politicians refuse to fix the system because they make money on the same issues and also from interest groups that want the system to stay the way it is. The little guy gets screwed constantly and that is wrong!
Well I will stop now with this comment:
If what they have done is illegal make them serve the sentence be it criminal or civil do not let the system being a flawed entity set them free!

What has become of our morals?
I give the series a chance but I found no redeaming value to it after watching six episodes. The series I am referrring to is Sparticus: Gods of the Arena. I have not watched any other versions of the series but I expect they are all similar in that the episodes are filled with gratuitous sex, including rape, extreme violence, and amounts of unnecessary blood scenes and violence that are only meant for the shock and awe effect. Make no mistake I have watched several series and also movies with what can only be described as depraved value. In most of those I at least found a few reasons to decide a point of interest. I have only ever walked out of or completely refused to finish watching a few examples. Thgis is the first time since starting this blog I have had a chance to write a review of such things. But while I am here I will reveal my opinion on a few of them.
The remake of Last House on the Left actually made me walk out in less than thirty minutes. The graphic rape scene at the start of the film made me physically ill. I cannot for the life of me understand the reasons to even put this on film when a simple line or two of text does the same thing without the grafic nature of the offense being shown.
I understand the minds of men are depraved in a fashion only a professional can ever explain, and even a professional would likely be unable to find the words. The reason I know it can be described in a few lines of text is because I see it repeatedly on shows such as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. They leave the anguish for the actors to fully protray with the talents they bring to the roles.
My girlfriend does not know the reason I watched the six episode series completely and I also know she is not aware of my work on this blog. Eventually, I will let her read it but for now she just thinks I am totally depraved. I will allow her the opinion for now because I find myself offended by the scenes for this series. I believe the writers are not level headed enough to put pen to paper and write lines to describe the actions they want to portray. So hire better writers!
Sparticus, in historic context, may have actually been acurate with the actions of the series. But there is a difference. Rome was not filled with only these types of people. Art and science were also present and many of the things we find today in museums and on display were either began or actually created in the Roman Empire. This series shows ONLY the underbelly of an otherwise complete society. I understand also the concept that violence and sex sells. But does every single scene have to be filled with trails of blood being splashed across the faces of onlookers or of slaves being made to accept rape and torture! I for one believe the series would be just as effective without all of the graphic pictures being shown to unsuspecting minds.
A friend of mine walked in his child's room and found this on his son's television. His idea to screen this series is the only reason I actually did. He said he watched a couple episodes and found it complete unsuitable for children. I watched six episodes and I find it unsuitable for anyone. People claim life imitates art and the freedom of speech allows these types of things to be made and shown. I stand behind the constitution and defnd it as often as needed. But this type of production does nothing more than desensitize viewers to violence and scenes of rape and assault. Certain things do not need desensitizing. We do not need to crawl into the minds of the people of that time period through this type of production. We need to ask ourselves can this be the type of things we want our children or any children for that matter to be shown. I am a middle aged man and I have seen things truly horrible this is absolutely no exception. I would not find any use for this in a supposedly moral society.
Do not misunderstand, I watched the series to do a type of intellectual research for today's entry to my blog, I would not want to find this in the possession of a corruptable mind that may later act out the things in reality. Where will our depravity end and where will good sense and respectibility finally make a stand? I do not know but I do know for sure this series will not end up in my collection of DVDs!
